KIM + BRETT’S TAFT POINT SUNSET CELEBRATION | YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER | YOSEMITE, CALIFORNIA
Have you ever had a ‘mountain top experience’ on an actual mountain top? Standing on the edge of the world at Taft Point in Yosemite National Park is an EXPERIENCE at any time of day. But the epic sunsets you can see from Taft Point – 1000% mind blowing! Yosemite definitely is one of those places on earth that takes your breath away every time you see it. No matter how many times you’ve been to the park, the vistas will inspire awe. And then when nature decides to put on a show… *eyes bulging WOW emoji*! Well Kim and Brett’s Taft Point sunset elopement was definitely a mountain top experience on an actual mountain top! The sunset during their celebration was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen!
The pleasantly warm fall evening was absolutely perfect for these two. As an added bonus, the smoke from ongoing (at the time) California wildfires had cleared! Praise Jesus! We definitely weren’t the only ones waiting for clear skies and met several other eloping couples and photographer friends on the hike out! Taft Point is a favorite location for good reason!
Whether dancing in the dazzling light beams or snuggling bravely near the edge of the cliff the love between these two was palpable. Kim and Brett even popped a bottle of bubbly to celebrate! All the beautiful aspects of the day were so touching that these two were getting teary eyed! To top off their day, Kim and Brett stayed out until the stars started twinkling! Yosemite, specifically Taft Point, is a great place to stargaze on your big day because it’s so dark. Many national parks claim that half the park is after dark, and I think you’ll agree Kim and Brett ended their day in the most STELLAR way! It was truly a perfect day filled with tender emotions, so much fun, and Yosemite definitely putting on a show for us!
If a literal ‘mountain top experience’ is what you’re dreaming of for your wedding day, consider eloping in Yosemite! I would love help you plan your very own Taft Point sunset elopement. Let me know if you’re most excited about the sunset or the stars at Taft Point when you get in touch here! And of course check out the Yosemite website for more info on this glacier carved wonderland. (Note: you will need reservations to get into the park again for the summer season starting May 21, 2021.)

While the mountain in all it’s glory is stunning, it’s the quiet moments you captured that bring their story alive for me. The small tear, the wind blowing through her dress, the warm embrace. This is all around perfection ❤️
