KIMBERLY + CALEB’S GLACIER POINT SUNRISE ELOPEMENT | YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER | YOSEMITE, CALIFORNIA
You know that old saying “the early bird get’s the worm”? When it comes to Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park, that saying is absolutely true. The views from Glacier Point are stunning anytime. From the vista and trail you can see the magnificent Half Dome, several of the larger Yosemite waterfalls, and the sheer plunge into the valley. But at sunrise it’s even more magnificent.
You have to be prepared for this sunrise show to happen. We made the trek up for Kimberly and Caleb’s Glacier Point elopement while it was still very much nighttime. Think following the trails with headlamps and checking out stargazing apps; it was really fun for being so early in the morning. In time the moon set on the horizon, the whole sky turned a brilliant pink, and these two had one of the sweetest ceremonies in front of the mighty Half Dome. It was one of those mountain top experiences.
A short time later, the sun started casting a glorious pinky golden glow on Half Dome. And as these two played all over the point the dust caught the sun making it look like a scene straight out of an epic romantic movie. There’s definitely something about that California light – it just doesn’t happen anywhere else. And at Glacier Point it also doesn’t happen any time else. It’s only at sunrise you can get this epic light show. So was it worth waking up at oh-dark-thirty? I think you can guess the answer is 100% yes.

I think you can now all agree that sunrise at Glacier Point is WORTH IT. But the road up to Glacier Point is closed for refurbishment during 2022. It’ll open back up in spring 2023 if all goes to plan. However, for those adventurous folks willing to hike up ~6 miles you can still get up to this point for this view even during the closure! This popular vista might have literally NO crowds this year. So are you ready to start planning your Glacier Point elopement?! Are you thinking of hiking up this year to take advantage of no crowds or maybe waiting until next year when you can drive? There’s no wrong answer! Either way, let’s get the ball rolling and start planning your Glacier Point elopement! Reach out here <–
