THOMAS + JEN’S ADVENTUROUS JOSHUA TREE ENGAGEMENT SESSION | JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER | JOSHUA TREE, CALIFORNIA

You know when your cheeks literally hurt so bad from smiling and laughing so much? Well that was totally me after Thomas and Jen’s adventurous Joshua Tree engagement session! These two decided to really tap into their love for nature and make celebrating their engagement a little weekend getaway in the desert. <- Take notes everyone, this is a super fun idea!

To start the evening off, we met up at their cute Airbnb right outside the park and drove in together. FYI my cheeks were already burning from smiling so much just on the drive in chatting with these guys! When we got to our permit location (photographer friends, find permit info here) the sun was just starting to turn perfectly golden. But, surprise! a wind storm was blowing in making it SUPER cold! It didn’t even phase these guys who were happy as clams being with each other, jumping off the rocks, and reminiscing about Zoolander. They of course had to do Blue Steel at least once!

Then, just as golden hour was peaking, we headed out to the main park road. There, these two whipped out their skateboards and literally rode off into the sunset. It was EPIC! In short, now I totally want to learn how to skateboard too. As the sun set, these two danced amidst the Joshua Trees, climbed more rocks (and Jen did it in heels!), and watched the park come to life in the twilight glow. You would never guess they were totally frozen this whole evening! The desert never ceases to amaze me; can’t wait to be back in Joshua Tree soon!
