High School Friends to Halloween Sweethearts

Let’s rewind a bit because Gaby & Chris’s love story is too good not to share. These two first met through mutual friends during high school. But it wasn’t until Chris invited Gaby to a Halloween party years later that things really clicked. Not even two weeks later, Gaby was meeting Chris’s family, and Halloween became their “first anniversary.”

Fast forward to October 2024, and here they were in Yosemite—sharing vows, tears, and so many laughs in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Sunrise First Look at Glacier Point

The day began before dawn at Glacier Point, where the adventure kicked off with a first look under the stars. It was a brisk 31˚—yes, literally freezing—but Chris was too excited to care. Fun fact: Chris didn’t know how to tie his tie, so he asked around in the parking lot. Enter Rob McCallum, a kind stranger from Texas, who saved the day with a perfect tie knot.

Gaby soon arrived, and their first look with Half Dome glowing in the early morning light was absolutely magical. Watching them laugh, tear up, and soak in the moment was the perfect start to their adventurous elopement.

As the sun rose, we explored the area, basking in the golden morning light. Gaby, ever the adventurous bride, kicked off her heels when the trail got tricky and went barefoot in her wedding dress like the rockstar she is.

A Ceremony Full of Heart and Cuban Flair

Their ceremony at the Glacier Point amphitheater was one for the books. With their friend Dia officiating bilingually, Gaby and Chris poured their hearts into their vows. Everyone cried. Seriously, everyone. Chris’s turquoise ring—such a sweet nod to Gaby’s work in New Mexico—was the icing on the cake (well, that and the actual dulce de leche cake). After the ceremony, they popped champagne, shared cupcakes with their guests, and even handed out Yosemite maps and snacks so everyone could go explore!

Golden Hour at Tunnel View and Cook Meadow

After a midday break, we met back up at Tunnel View just before sunset. If you’ve ever been to Yosemite, you know this spot is iconic for a reason. The light was hitting just right, and the small stream of water coming off Bridalveil Falls even created a rainbow—a first for me as a Yosemite elopement photographer!

Gaby & Chris hiked to the viewpoint (barefoot again because Gaby’s heels couldn’t keep up with her adventurous spirit) and took in the breathtaking scenery together. Their joy was infectious, and capturing their connection against such a stunning backdrop was unforgettable.

We ended the day in Cook Meadow, where Half Dome was glowing in the evening light. This peaceful, golden moment was the perfect way to wrap up their Yosemite National Park elopement.

Dinner at The Ahwahnee

To cap off the day, everyone headed to The Ahwahnee Hotel for dinner in its grand dining room. Gaby & Chris made sure I joined them as a guest (seriously, how sweet are they?), so I put my cameras down and enjoyed a fabulous meal with their loved ones. ¡Gracias a todos por darme la bienvenida!
